Hilarie Burton made a name for herself thanks to her role as Peyton Sawyer on One Tree Hill. Many of us will forever associate her with that one role, but there’s actually a lot more to her than her music-loving character. For all you Hilarie Burton fans, here are 10 things you probably don’t know about the television actress:

10. Head Cheerleader

Like her character on One Tree Hill, Hilarie was a cheerleader in high school. In fact, she was the head her high school’s cheerleading squad.

9. VJ

Before she landed her gig on One Tree Hill, Hilarie was a VJ for the Total Request Live on MTV. She was only supposed to be a guest commenter on one segment of the show, but they must have been impressed with her because she was offered a full time job.

8. University Student

She was a university student at New York University and then Fordham University when she was offered a job as a full time VJ for Total Request Live.

7. First Marriage

In 2004, when she was 22-years-old, the former VJ married Ian Prange, an assistant director she met on the set of One Tree Hill. They divorced in 2009.

6. Girl Crush

When she was a VJ on Total Request Live, Hilarie interviewed Angelina Jolie. “I had a big crush on her, and Carson threw me to the wolves when she came,” she said. “She’s kind of a babe.”

5. Wife and Mother

She’s been dating Jeffrey Dean Morgan since 2009 and they reportedly got married in 2014. In 2010, she gave birth to their son, Augustus, who they call Gus for short. They are both very protective of their son. It took years for her to even confirm his name.

4. Candy Girl

With her hot husband, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and their friend Paul Rudd, the television actress owns a candy store called Samuel’s Sweet Shop in Rhinebeck, NY. They bought it after the owner died and decided to keep it going before it turned into something else.

3. Production Company

The One Tree Hill star has her own production company along with Nick Gray, Kelly Tenney, James Burton and Meg Mortimer called Southern Gothic Production (SoGoPro).

2. Farm Girl

Hilarie and her husband own a farm in New York’s Hudson Valley, complete with livestock (cattle and chickens). According to Hilary, when she first Jeffrey Dean Morgan, they talked about owning a farm together and now it’s a reality.

When she was filming One Tree Hill, she lived in Wilmington, North Carolina. After she moved there, her family did too. It’s still home base for her because her parents still live there.
