Liam Hemsworth has proved he is so much more than just the younger brother of Chris Hemsworth. The Australian hunk has quickly shot to the top of the Hollywood A-list thanks to his roles in The Last Song, The Hunger Games and Independence Day: Insurgence, helped along by his ridiculous good looks that seem to bless his family. Thanks to his fame, quite a bit is known about the handsome actor; however, he also likes to keep his personal life private meaning there is so much more that is not widely known about Liam. Check it out:

10. Sibling Rivalry

The Hemsworth brothers have always said they are always super competitive and give each other a hard time, except for when it comes to roles. It turns out, however, that it was Liam, not Chris, who made the final cut for the casting of Thor, but at the last minute, one of the producers called Chris in again and he was given the role over Liam.

9. Inspiration

It is obvious that the Hemsworth brothers have remained super close even as their career schedules and their own family lives become busier, but they always take the time to offer help and inspiration for each other when needed. After landing the role of Gale Hawthorne in The Hunger Games, Liam’s brother Chris had a unique way of inspiring Liam to get into shape. “One of the biggest inspirations before I started shooting came from my brother, when he texted me and said, ‘Hey fatty, it’s called ‘The Hunger Games’, not ‘The Eating Games.’ So I started working out a lot more and eating a lot less,” Liam stated.

8. Odd Jobs

Like many stars, Liam had several odd jobs to bring in money before making it big as an actor. Liam told Vanity Fair that he worked at a bakery, a bowling alley and also laid floors for his brother Luke’s carpentry company, but he also did a stint as a park ranger at a nature park for the penguin exhibit.

7. Awkward Education

Liam’s mother, Leonie Hemsworth, is a teacher, and unfortunately, Liam had his own mother as his sex education teacher in school. In an interview with Jay Leno, he was asked what the experience was like to which he responded, “Exactly what you think it’s like! It was interesting until she started talking about her own personal experiences, and that’s when I just head out the door!”

5. Crocodile Dundee

Although the Hemsworths are now their own Australian legends, turns out they are related to a real-life legend. Liam’s uncle was Rodney Asnell, whose exploits, life and adventures inspired the 1986 blockbuster film “Crocodile” Dundee starring Paul Hogan. Rod Ansell was married to Liam’s aunt (his mother’s sister), Joanne van Os.
