Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have proved they have quite a solid relationship, despite the initial doubts! They’ve created a family of six and have shown their constant love, support, and affection of each other through the various seasons of their lives.  Unlike many of Kim’s previous relationships, West is totally supportive of her living her life in the spotlight and he seems to be the one encouraging her to put her life out there. She’s also really supportive of him. Throughout all of his Twitter tantrums and public meltdowns, she has stood by him. This can really only mean one thing – maybe they are meant to be! Here are 20 things you didn’t know about their relationship:

20. How they met

Kim and Kanye met in 2004 when Kim was still married to her first husband, Damon Thomas. She was working as singer Brandy’s assistant. Brandy and Kanye were in the studio recording a song called “Talk About Our Love” and the singer asked Kim to bring some alcohol over to the studio. He was immediately smitten with Kim and asked his manager who she was.

The rapper and the reality TV star eventually became good friends, but Kanye was always secretly pining for Kim. In 2012, he rapped about falling in love with Kim at the same time that she was falling in love with Kris Humphries in the song “Cold”: “And I’ll admit, I had fell in love with Kim/Around the same time she had fell in love with hiiiim/Well that’s cool, baby girl, do ya thang/Lucky I ain’t had Jay drop him from the team.”

In 2012, his ex Amber Rose corroborated this story, claiming that the rapper cheated on her with Kim and that the reality TV star was hooking up with Kanye while she was dating Reggie Bush. There were also rumors that Kris Humphries knew that she and Kanye had been hooking up for years and he wasn’t comfortable with the two of them being friends, but he couldn’t do anything to stop it.

16. Kanye introduced Kim to the fashion industry

While it may seem like Kim Kardashian has always been a fashion icon, this isn’t actually the case! It was Kanye who introduced Kim to the fashion industry and made a lot of decisions on outfits she wore to events and red carpets. “I really do get all of my inspiration from my husband,” Kim dished to People speaking of her style. “He makes my life so easy.”

After filing for divorce from Kris Humphries in 2011, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star and Kanye began hanging out and romance slowly blossomed. They went public with their romance in March 2012 when they attended Paris Fashion Week together.  “My style has definitely evolved,” Kim explained to People. “When I met Kanye and he really started to bring me to Paris he introduced me to a bunch of people. 14. Kim pursued Kanye after her divorce

You may be surprised to learn that according to Kim, she was the one who pursued Kanye following her split from Kris Humphries. “I called [Kanye] because I’m sure it was really hurtful that I got married and, even though it’s not like we communicated all the time, I knew what he was thinking. So I thought he was going to call me as soon as he knew that I was single again,” she told Access Hollywood. “He didn’t, and so I called him and I said, ‘Hello? I thought you were at least going to call me and say ‘I told you so,’ or something?’ And then – he’s always been a good friend to me, like, we’ve always been there for each other – then he invited me to a fashion show of his in Paris and I went, and then the magic happened.”

Back in 2012, Kanye gifted the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star a purebred Teacup Persian named Mercy. Unfortunately, the kitten got a rare stomach cancer and had to be euthanized. She was only four months old.

12. The Engagement

The “Gold Digger” rapper proposed to Kim on her 33rd birthday at AT&T Park in San Francisco. He actually rented out the stadium for the proposal and invited all of her friends and family! The engagement was captured on an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

10. The Wedding

Kim and Kanye were married in Florence, Italy, in May 2014; however, their wedding invitations stated that the wedding would take place in Paris, so the pair and their entourage began the celebration there. They had a French-royalty themed rehearsal dinner in Versailles and then jetted off to Florence where the couple exchanged vows at the Forte di Belvedere. Kim and Kanye both wore Givenchy and so did North.

Kardashian and West reportedly have a prenuptial agreement that entitles the reality TV star to $1 million for every year that she’s married to the rapper, but it is capped at $10 million. The title of their Bel Air mansion is in her name and she also gets to keep all of the jewelry and gifts that the Yeezus singer gifts her. Any money from her reality show, the Kardashian clothing line, and promotional appearances are also considered separate and sole income. One of Kanye’s life insurance policies valued at $20 million will name Kim as the beneficiary for life and there are no clauses in the agreement regarding custody arrangements of their children.

As one of the most lavish couples in the world, it’s no surprise that this duo takes all the stops when it comes to special occasions. For the couple’s first Valentine’s Day, Kanye sent Kim 1000 red roses. In 2019, he set up a maze of individual roses in vases where Kenny G stood serenading her with a saxophone.

7. Kanye’s Staple Center Birthday

While Kayne has definitely mastered the art of a grand gesture, that doesn’t mean it’s a one-way street! For Kanye’s birthday in 2015, Kim rented out the actual Staples Center in LA so he could play a game of basketball with his friends. West was joined by NBA superstars Russell Westbrook and John Wall, as well as Justin Bieber, Tyga and Pusha T among others for his epic birthday surprise.

The couple moved in with Kim’s mother Kris Jenner in 2013 when they had their $11 million Bel Air mansion remodeled. They moved in with Kris again in 2015 when they decided to sell the Bel Air mansion because Kim was unhappy with the renovations and figured that it would cost too much money to make it perfect. They then bought an estate in Hidden Hills and had it remodeled as well, which is why they moved in with Kris again. They finally moved out of Kris’ again in March 2016 when they decided to move into the Bel Air mansion while they awaited the reconstruction of their Hidden Hills home.

3. Complicated Pregnancy

Kim got pregnant with her and Kanye’s daughter North while she was still legally married to Kris Humphries, but she gave birth to North less than two weeks after she and Kris settled their divorce in June 2013. The reality star went into premature labor after being diagnosed with early-onset preeclampsia, a rare condition that causes excessive weight gain, high blood pressure, as well as swelling in your hands, feet and face, and can affect the placenta and the mom’s major organs like the liver, kidneys and brain. This led to placenta accrete, a serious conditioning whereby the placenta grows too deeply into the uterine wall and prevents the mother from delivering the placenta. As a result, her doctor had to remove the placenta out of her uterus piece by piece with his fingers.

2. Second Pregnancy

Kanye and Kim used IVF to get pregnant with their second child, Saint. They had been trying for eight months to expand their family, but it wasn’t until they used in vitro fertilization treatment with hormones that they were finally able to conceive. “Kim also had three surgeries to repair her uterus,” a source close to the star told People. “The inner lining had been so damaged that she was told conceiving on her own wasn’t possible.” She also underwent a gender selection process to predetermine the baby’s sex to ensure that they had a boy. On December 5, 2015, Kim gave birth to Saint three weeks ahead of her due date. This pregnancy wasn’t much easier than her first. The baby was in breach, so she underwent an external cephalic version (ECV) to have the baby manually turned from a breech position to a head-down position and she also had placenta accrete again.

1. Kim is the more finance-savvy partner

When it comes to finances, Kanye and Kim don’t always see eye-to-eye. In their relationship, it’s Kim whose more savvy about their money and how they spend it. Kim isn’t a fan of Kanye’s impulse spending, especially when it comes to purchases in the six figures!
