As a child, the Duke of Sussex had a gray, lop-eared rabbit. It lived in a hutch in the stable yard at his family’s country estate, Highgrove, next to Prince William’s guinea pig. He cared for the rabbit, feeding it and cleaning its hutch.

The red-haired prince created the Invictus Games, an international sporting even for wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women. The following year, the first Invictus Games took place in London, England.

11. He Spoke to His Mom on the Day She Died

Both Prince Harry and Prince William spoke to Princess Diana on the day that she died. They had been at Balmoral in Scotland and, according to them, they rushed the phone call not realizing that it would be the last time that they spoke to her. For Harry, this is something that he will regret “for the rest of [his] life.”

10. Mental Health Issues

Harry revealed to The Telegraph in 2017 that he sought counseling after struggling in his late 20s to come to terms with his mother’s sudden and tragic death. He disclosed that he felt close to a breakdown on numerous occasions and mostly avoided dealing with his grief. “I can safely say that losing my mum at the age of 12, and therefore shutting down all of my emotions for the last 20 years, has had a quite serious effect on not only my personal life but my work as well,” he said.

9. He Had a Secret Facebook Account

Prince Harry used to have a Facebook account, but it wasn’t under his real name and it didn’t include any pictures of him. It was under the pseudonym Spike Wells and his profile pictures included photos of a hedgehog, a lemur from the movie Madagascar, and a redheaded kid with the comment, “Oh my God, I’m ginger.” Following the incident in Las Vegas where he was photographed playing strip billiards, his advisors told him to delete his Facebook page and he complied.

8. Is Dedicated To Helping Others

Prince Harry’s dedication to putting in work to help others is not something he considers as just part of his job as a member of the royal family, but is something he is actually very passionate about. His mother Princess Diana would bring both William and Harry to homeless projects, orphanages and other aid organizations at a very young age in order to give them an “understanding of people’s emotions, insecurities and of people’s hopes and dreams.” On Worlds AIDS Day, Harry offered his own personal confession to promote #FeelNoShame and try to alleviate the stigma around AIDS.

7. Media Blew His Military Cover

Although many have accused Harry of only participating in staged and completely safe operations in the military, he made it very clear he was serious about serving like every other soldier. As a member of the Household Cavalry, Harry was supposed to deploy to Iraq, but the military was forced to pull him out when the media figured out where he would be. He made it to Afghanistan without media knowledge in 2007 and served 10 weeks before an Australian paper once again blew his cover, forcing him to leave again.

6. Middleton’s Aren’t Fans

As the Royal rumor mill has it, the parents of his sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, are not big fans of Harry. Apparently, his joking and “unconventional” manner is too impolite for the traditional British parents.

5. Loves Africa

Following his time at Eton and in the year before going to the military academy, Harry spent a year in Lesotho, Africa, where he worked with children orphaned by AIDS. He has returned to Africa as often as possible to help and even founded Sentebale, which he started with Crown Prince Seeiso; it helps Africa’s children. He has also extended his aid to conserving and protecting Africa’s wildlife.

4. Had A Dating Show Based On Him

Harry has always been considered one of the hottest celebrity bachelors. He is now 33 and has never been married, which spawned the reality TV show I Wanna Marry Harry. For the show, 12 American women believed they were competing for the affection of Prince Harry; however, it was really Matt Hicks, a Prince Harry look-alike and impersonator. Unsurprisingly, it was canceled after only four episodes.

3. Met His Ex In Africa

During his gap year in Africa, Harry met Chelsy Davy who was the daughter of a Zimbabwean landowner. As to be expected with a guy like Prince Harry, Davy was not the typical “princess” type. “She could ride bareback, skipper a speedboat across Kenya’s Lake Naivasha, and all the time match the boys drink for drink,” a friend stated. The two broke up after about six years and then he moved on to Cressida Bones. Now he’s married to Suits star Meghan Markle and the two are expecting their first child together!

2. Had A Special Nickname From Diana

Unfortunately, Harry was only 12 years old when his mother Princess Diana was killed in a car crash in 1997, but the two had a special bond, reportedly because of his unique red hair. While many claimed his hair was red because he was actually the son of James Hewitt, with whom Diana had an affair, she was known to call Harry “My little Spencer” because the red hair comes from her side of the family.

1. Real Name

He is Prince Harry right? Actually, his real name is Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales and is just known as Prince Harry. Also, you may have noticed the Royal Family doesn’t have a fixed surname, and instead go by the area where they hold a title. Now that Harry is married to Meghan Markle and has been given the title Duke of Sussex, his and Markle’s last name is Sussex.
