The Property Brothers’ Interview With People: 7 Things We Learned

It seems there is absolutely nothing that Drew and Jonathan Scott, affectionately known as The Property Brothers, can’t do. The pair of charming twins have four successful home renovation shows, a new book, and a huge and loyal group of loyal fans supporting them in all of their endeavours. Aside from being super successful business men, they are also hilarious and, as fans recently found out, musical! With no end in sight to their limits, the handsome pair sat down for an interview with People magazine and dished on some of their up and coming projects, and we learned even more about the amazing duo! Check out the 7 things we learned from their newest interview!

7. They’re Genuinely Helpful

Jonathan and Drew just released their book, Dream Home: The Property Brothers’ Ultimate Guide to Finding & Fixing Your Perfect House, and their number one goal was to make sure to really help people dealing with buying or renovating a house. “We’ve amassed this bunch of knowledge over the last 20 years — because we’ve been doing real estate for almost 20 years — and especially with the shows and the feedback from fans and problems that they’ve had, we listened to them, and we wanted to take all of that information to make a comprehensive guide that no matter what the problem is someone was facing, this book gets them to ask the questions they need to ask themselves, or else they’re just throwing money away,” Jonathan stated. Drew added, “It doesn’t matter whether you’re buying, selling, renovating or whether you even own — you just rent an apartment, condo or house, and you just want to make it feel more like home instead of a rental: We show cost-effective ways of doing that or working with your landlord to be able to get more of that dream home feel.”

6. They’re Relatable

Another highlight of the book is that it has a lot of “fun stuff” for fans to get to know the guys a little better. They also made sure to add important details such as “decoding realtor speak” in order to help people out as much as possible. “There’s a whole thing that breaks down if you’re reading a listing, some of the code words that real estate agents use that are actually not anything. Like, “artistic home” means “there’s some weird s— going on in here,” Jonathan hilariously stated. “Or, if they say, like, “Oh, this home boasts natural landscaping,” that means they did nothing outside,” Drew added.

5. Friends and Brothers

As fans of their show know, the two are always joking around with each other and it is very clear that they are both best friends and brothers. In the interview they were asked how they don’t get sick of each other since they have always been together pretty much their entire lives. Jonathan’s answer was genuine and direct, “We actually have a no-BS policy, so if there’s something that’s bugging us, we just get it out and deal with it so it doesn’t turn into more than it has to be.”

4. More Music!

While filming their Property Brothers special “Home on the Ranch” the twins recorded two songs, and to their surprise fans loved them so much that one even ended up on the Billboard chart. Thanks to this surprising success with it the two stated that they will “probably do more,” but haven’t got anything fully set yet.

3. Third-wheeling!

While the two always get along, Jonathan did admit one thing that he thinks probably bugs Drew the most. “I think the only thing that annoys Drew his girlfriend Linda [Phan], is that I’m third-wheeling all their dates.” Drew confirmed, “I have photos of him like third-wheeling on our movie dates and stuff like that.” They then described how Drew set up an “interview” on the Steve Harvey Show last year, but really it was an attempt to set Jonathan up. Steve Harvey announced, “Drew and Linda are sick of you third-wheeling” and revealed three eligible bacherlorettes! Jonathan didn’t elaborate, he just called the experience “awkward!”

2. The Cruise

The two also recently participated in a cruise with fans, and Drew revealed that it seemed a little more than that. “There were 2,000 fans on that ship, and if you look at the stats of the ship, it was probably 2,000 eligible bachelorettes that were trying to get a date with Jonathan.”

1. On to Comedy

The two are natural jokesters and love pranking each other and goofing around so it shouldn’t be too surprising they have had their own sketch comedy group and Drew even had an interest in being a clown! So, when asked what’s next with all their success, Drew replied, “We’re actually producing a lot more comedy content, collaborations with other talent. We have friends like actor-comedian J.B. Smoove, we just did one with Gilbert Godfrey —  whole random array.”
