The Voice Coaches Past & Present: How Much Are They Worth?

NBC’s The Voice has set itself a part from other talent compeition reality series after American Idol made the genre an extremely popular series idea. After four years and nine seasons there has been a lot of talent go on and off the stage; however, one of the most interesting parts about the show is that a lot of fans watch not because of the singing, but because of the celebrity coaches. The “bromance” between unlikely duo country star Blake Shelton and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine has become notorious in the media and watching the relationships and banter between all of the super famous coaches is one of the most entertaining components of The Voice. One thing is for sure, NBC must have a huge payroll budget to secure these big names, taking away time they would be in the studio or performing. Coaching on The Voice is not what is packing these stars’ bank accounts, but it is certainly helping. Check out how much each of the eight coaches who have appeared on The Voice are worth!

8. CeeLo Green

Estimated Net Worth: $22 Million. Cee Lo Green is a music industry mogul holding the titles of singer-songwriter, rapper, record producer, and actor. Although he had been singing for years, Cee Lo became widely known to the public in 2006 when he and Danger Mouse formed to create the duo Gnarls Barkley, hitting it big with their first single “Crazy.” Cee Lo then hit it big with a single of his own with the 2010 hit “F–k You!” and in 2011 became one of the original coaches on The Voice. He coached for season 1-3 and came back for season 5 and, although he never won, he came close in season 2 when his contestant Juliet Simms was the runner-up. In 2011, Cee Lo earned a reported $75,000 per episode of The Voice as well as a whopping $20 million in endorsements as reported by The New York Times.

7. Shakira

Estimated Net Worth: $220 Million. Yes, you are reading that right, according to Celebrity Net Worth and The Richest, Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira is worth $220 million. Needless to say she is the highest selling Colombian singer of all time and is the third most viewed artist of all time on YouTube. She has won two Grammys, eight Latin Grammys and seven Billboard Music Awards just to name a few, and has intermittently coached on The Voice, appearing for seasons 4 and 6. She hasn’t won either season that she coached and has once again been focusing on her music and her family, but has not ruled out returning to the show again. She made a reported $12,000,000 for coaching in season 4.

6. Usher

Estimated Net Worth: $180 Million. Usher has also made himself an icon in the music business as a singer, songwriter, producer, and actor and somehow NBC was also able to convince him to participate as a coach on The Voice for seasons 4 and 6 when Cee Lo Green was off. The Recording Industry Association of America has Usher ranked as one of the best-selling artists in American history, having sold over 75 million records worldwide and has won an incredible eight Grammys. In 2010, he made $75 million and, in progressive years, made anywhere between $30- $46 million, all adding up to an astounding net worth of $180 million.

5. Christina Aguilera

Estimated Net Worth: $130 Million. Christina Aguilera has been a well known singer, songwriter and actress since rising to fame in the late ’90s with her debut album. That album spawned some of the biggest hits of the ’90s and early 2000s including “Genie in a Bottle,” “What a Girl Wants,” and “Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You).” She has won five Grammys and in 2011 signed one to be one of the original coaches on The Voice. She stayed on for three seasons before taking a break to work on music and returned for season five, but took a break again due to her second pregnancy. It has already been confirmed she will be back to coach the 10th season. She has never won as a coach, but still makes a reported $10 million a year, which is a nice addition to her net worth of $130 million.

4. Pharrell Williams

Estimated Net Worth: $120 Million. Pharrell Williams also has an astounding net worth thanks to his status as a singer-songwriter, record producer and fashion designer. Aside from his very successful solo career, Pharrell is also the lead singer and drummer for the band N.E.R.D. Along with a recent upsurge in his solo career thanks to his album Girl, he is also the winner of ten Grammys and has expanded his business ventures including I am OTHER, a multimedia creative collective that encompasses all of his dealings. He joined The Voice in season 7 and it was announced he would be the permanent replacement for Cee Lo Green, which has paid off well for him after he won season 8 with singer Sawyer Fredericks. In 2015, Williams ended up raking in $32 million, and after years of success, it has added up to a net worth of $120 million.

3. Gwen Stefani

Estimated Net Worth: $100 Million. Gwen Stefani is one of the most famous female celebrities thanks to being known as a singer, songwriter, fashion designer and actress. She got her start with the extremely popular pop-rock band No Doubt before launching into her own extremely successful solo career. Her musical career has earned a lot of accolades along with a lot of money, and she joined The Voice for the first time in season 7 and returned yet again for season 9, filling in for Christina Aguilera. She is going through a divorce with her husband of 13 years Gavin Rossdale, and with a net worth of $100 million and no prenup, which means Rossdale could be looking at a huge payday.

2. Blake Shelton

Estimated Net Worth: $60 Million. Blake Shelton is a country superstar who had been dominating the genre for years before becoming more widely known outside of country music thanks to his antics on The Voice. Shelton got his start in 2001 and hasn’t looked back since, starting off with his gold-certified debut album and, although he hasn’t won a Grammy, he is a big winner in all country music awards shows. Shelton signed on as one of the original coaches and has become a fan favorite thanks to his hilarious personality, “country” view on things and of course his jokes about drinking. While he may seem like a goofball, Shelton is certainly doing something right having won the compeition an incredible 4 times, and is consistently a runner-up in the seasons he does not win. Shelton made a reported $12 million from season 6 and raked in $28.5 million in 2015 as a whole.

1. Adam Levine

Estimated Net Worth: $60 Million. As fans of the show know, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine have struck up one of the funniest friendships in the entertainment industry and while one of the funniest parts about them is how different they are, they have a lot of similarities. Like Shelton, Levine is also worth $60 million, and he also got his big music break in 2001 when he formed the group Maroon 5, which has since launched him to superstardom. Their first album went multi-platinum and the group has won multiple awards including three Grammys. He also owns his own record label and is involved in many other business ventures, which along with his voice annual salary of $12 million, has added up to a very respectable $60 million. Levine, along with Shelton, are they only two coaches to coach for every season of The Voice so far, and he has won the competition twice with Javier Colon and Tessanne Chi.
