Kate Middleton’s Fashion Hits & Misses Of 2020

Nearly everyone has been affected by the events of 2020 and that even includes the royal family! Typically the royal family’s schedule is jam-packed with events and public appearances, but this year definitely was much slower-paced. They did still make a few appearances, however, and many of which were major notable fashion moments, especially from Kate Middleton. Follow along as we round up a few of Kate Middleton’s fashion hits and misses from 2020.

17. Hit: March 3rd

During the royal Ireland tour, Kate had all eyes on her in a glittering emerald dress that we absolutely love. The midi-length dress featured a cinched-in waist and frills along the sleeves and hemline which added the perfect feminine touch. She accessorized with matching velvet heels and a gold glittery clutch.

16. Miss: March 3rd

Kate Middleton missed the mark with this bold look she wore on the royal Ireland tour this past March. While we love this rich shade of green on her, this look felt a little too busy and overwhelming.

15. Hit: June 25th

Kate Middleton looked stunning this past June when she stepped out to visit a Children’s Hospice in Norfolk. This lovely shade of lilac really flattered her summer tan and the tones in the floral print worked beautifully together.

14. Miss: February 2nd

We weren’t the biggest fans of this white and gold number worn by Kate Middleton for this year’s BAFTA awards. This event is typically one of the most high profile events of the year, which means it’s also one of the most anticipated royal fashion moments. Fans were simply a little disappointed to see Kate step onto the red carpet wearing a dress she’s repeated in the past.

13. Hit: April 23rd

Kate Middleton stole the show in late April when she stepped out with her family to clap in support of front line workers. The whole family had a stunning fashion moment in their coordinating blue ensembles but we especially loved Kate’s look with the lovely floral print and feminine long sleeves.

12. Miss: January 28th

Kate Middleton stepped out on January 28th wearing a charcoal grey tweed suit paired with black tights. This type of outfit is a classic Kate Middleton style at this point, but we can’t help but wish she’d have styled this in a more modern way to keep her look feeling fresh and trendy.

11. Hit: October 6th

Kate Middleton styled this casual look to perfection on October 6th when she stepped out to visit students at the University of Derby. The oversized fit of this patterned coat feels very on-trend but the look as a whole is still classic with the tailored trousers and simple cashmere sweater.

10. Miss: July 5th

We have to admit we didn’t love this look Kate wore on July 5th to visit Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn. The blue dress felt a little too conservative and mature with the combination of the Peter Pan collar, oversized bow, and long sleeves.

9. Hit: January 22nd

We absolutely love this chic coat look that Kate Middleton wore this past January during her solo UK tour. The look felt very on-trend for 2020 with this lovely shade of camel, especially paired with the leopard skirt she styled underneath.

8. Miss: February 11th

We felt this navy ensemble Kate wore this past February wasn’t the most flattering. The combination of the drop-waist skirt and peplum blazer felt like an odd combination that didn’t pull together as well as we would have hoped.

7. Hit: August 4th

Kate Middleton looked so fresh and chic when she rocked this white midi dress this past August. The puff sleeve shoulder detailing and black buttons made the entire look feel contemporary and trendy yet still classic.

6. Miss: September 15th

Kate Middleton stepped out on September 15th rocking a red floral dress that we, unfortunately, weren’t the biggest fans of. While we love this crisp shade of red on the Duchess, we simply felt the look had details that were a little too matronly like the lace sleeve detailing.

5. Hit: March 9th

Kate Middleton absolutely dazzled when she stepped out in early March wearing this beaded cobalt blue number. We can’t get enough of this rich shade of blue on Middleton and all the stunning sparkling beading truly made for a show-stopping fashion moment.

4. Miss: January 5th

Kate Middleton stepped out in early January of this year with Prince William wearing a burgundy textured coat and blue fedora hat. While we actually really love this coat and all of its unique detailing, we can’t say the same about the hat she opted for. The fedora felt a little outdated and was so bold that it detracted from the rest of the look.

3. Hit: March 9th

One of the last royal appearances before the world shut down was on March 9th when the entire family stepped out for Commonwealth Day. We absolutely love this coordinating maroon ensemble that Kate wore for the occasion. The velvet detailing and dramatic fascinator really elevated the entire look.

2. Miss: August 5th

Kate Middleton stepped out this past August wearing a light blue floral printed dress that we’ve seen her wear in the past. With this look, it feels like the magenta flowers and light aqua color clash rather than flatter each other.

1. Hit: January 20th

Our favorite Kate Middleton look of the year has to be this crimson beaded number she wore at a Buckingham Palace reception in January. This look has so much beautiful detail to it with the sequin beading, mesh details, and tulle skirt. Not to mention how much this rich shade of red flatters her brunette hair and dark features!
