SAG Awards 2018: 12 Worst Dressed Stars

This year’s SAG awards was a sea of colors following the Golden Globes fashion blackout! We saw everything from frilly ruffles to sheer embroidery, but unfortunately, not always for the best! While many stars turned heads for their swoon-worthy ensembles, others did so for a whole other reason last night. Follow along as we recall 12 of the worst-dressed stars from last night’s 2018 SAG awards:

12. Abbie Cornish

Abbie Cornish stepped onto the red carpet wearing quite the foofy number last night! The unusual garment featured dainty ruffle details throughout and stark contrasting black bows trailing down the front of the bodice. This high-neck, long sleeve cut has been seriously popular on the red carpet this year, but unfortunately, this conservative dress just didn’t bring the glamour factor we were hoping for.

11. Mary J Blige

Mary J Blige unfortunately missed the mark on last night’s red carpet with this Jan-Louis Sabaji garment! Although we can definitely appreciate that this look was unique and original, it just simply seemed to overwhelm her frame and detract from her natural beauty. The feather embellished sash seemed overstated and we would have much preferred to see Blige in something a little more minimal and simple.

10. Gayle Rankin

Gayle Rankin definitely topped the worst-dressed list with this revealing garment from last night’s red carpet! Rankin left little to the imagination with this cutout gown that featured a strategically placed checkered design throughout. The look felt like a fashion malfunction waiting to happen and her chunky heels and strange purple broach definitely detracted from this look even further.

9. Gina Rodriguez

A strong embellished gown is typically a no-brainer for best-dressed on the red carpet, which is why we were even more disappointed by Gina Rodriguez’s gown from last night! The Rasario Resort floral garment featured a corset bodice and sheer embroidery trailing down the skirt. This look definitely had potential, but unfortunately, the stark butterfly embroidery made the look come across slightly too juvenile.

8. Allison Williams

Allison Williams has landed on quite a few worst-dressed lists at recent award shows, and unfortunately, her SAG Awards look was no different! The tasseled number actually had a few redeemable qualities with its soft silver shimmer and dainty beading, but unfortunately, the tiers of the skirt were quite unflattering. Rather than looking textured and sleek, the bottom tier detracted from the look and made the garment appear stringy and awkward.

7. Renee Bargh

Extra host Renee Bargh went all out for the SAG awards this year, but she didn’t quite hit the mark! Her powder blue gown featured a large cutout in the bodice of the dress and exaggerated cape sleeves that draped along her sides. The combination of the bold color, dramatic cutout, and enormous sleeves in addition to the oversized broach just didn’t work well together.

6. Emily Tarver

Classic polka dot print is undeniably a huge celebrity fashion trend at the moment, but Emily Tarver didn’t quite nail it with her take on the style. The sheer, layered gown featured polka dots that increased in size as they trailed down the dress which created an unflattering illusion and brought volume to all the wrong places.

5. Laura Linney

Laura Linney’s cape-look left us feeling quite underwhelmed last night! The soft pink number completely washed out the fair actress’ complexion, and even more so with the silver feather detailing that didn’t quite work with Linney’s skin tone. The look was definitely dramatic and glamorous, but unfortunately the exaggerated cape and washed out color just didn’t come together well.

4. Cara Buono

Cara Buono also opted for a cape on last night’s red carpet, but we felt a similar dissatisfaction with her look! The embroidered number featured a strange color palette that mixed soft pastels with bold rainbow colors. To make matters worse, the look boasted a sheer cape which simply distracted rather than bring the glamour factor we presume she was hoping for.

3. Alison Brie

Alison Brie missed the mark with this dramatic red number at the SAG awards! The look featured a lightning-bolt inspired embellishment that traced down one side of the asymmetrical garment. Considering the eccentric color and thigh-high slit were already so bold, this look definitely could have skipped out on the exaggerated, sparkly embellishment.

2. Kate Nash

Kate Nash’s ruffled gown was another prime example of this high-neck, ruffled dress style gone wrong. There is a delicate line between a dress like this looking soft and feminine or matronly and conservative, and Kate Nash’s take on the trend was definitely the latter! The powder blue gown was a mess of ruffles, tiers and sheer layering that completely overwhelmed her and distracted from her natural beauty.

1. Kate Hudson

Kate Hudson undeniably led the worst-dressed list for the 2018 SAG awards this year! The overly feminine gown featured heart-shaped polka dots, a strange turtle-neckline covered in lace and tacky ruffles trailing throughout. The look was a clear fashion miss on the typically elegant fashionista, which is why we were all the more disappointed!
