Britney Spears’ court-appointed lawyer, Samuel Ingham III, has resigned following her emotional conservatorship hearing.
The attorney filed a resignation request with the court on Tuesday, July 6th. The documents state that Ingham will step back from the role once the judge finds new counsel for Spears.
Ingham has represented Spears for the entirety of her almost 13-year conservatorship. He was first appointed by the Los Angeles County Superior Court to represent Spears in her conservatorship battle when it began in 2008. He has taken a lot of heat in the past from the singer’s fans for his alleged lack of action when it comes to reinstating Britney’s freedom.
Spears’ manager of 25 years, Larry Rudolph, also submitted a letter of resignation recently. In the resignation, he cited the singer’s desire to retire soon.
News of Ingham and Rudolph’s resignations come following Spears’ emotional public testimony addressing her conservatorship in court. She called the conservatorship “abusive” and pleaded with Judge Brenda Penny to allow her to seek her own counsel to help bring the conservatorship to an end.
The next court hearing for the conservatorship is scheduled for July 14.
