Kelly Clarkson will be required to pay her estranged ex-husband Brandon Blackstock nearly $200 000 in child and spousal support per month.
A Los Angeles County judge passed the order on Tuesday that Clarkson give Blackstock $150,000 per month in spousal support, in addition to $45,601 per month in child support. This means that Blackstock will receive roughly $195,601 total from Clarkson each month, which also rounds out to roughly $2.4 million per year. The order also requires Clarkson to pay $1.25 million to cover her ex husband’s attorney fees and costs for their ongoing divorce proceedings.
According to PEOPLE, a source previously shared that the amount is actually much less than what Blackstock had initially hoped to receive. Blackstock had been aiming for more than double the amount in support, requesting that Clarkson pay him $436,000 per month, which breaks down to $301,000 in spousal support and $135,000 in child support.
Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock back in June 2020 after seven years of marriage. Back in November, an L.A. County judge granted Clarkson primary physical custody of their children River Rose and Remington Alexander. Amid the divorce, Clarkson has made it clear that her priority has always been her children and their well-being.
“As Kelly has said, her first priority in all of this is to take care of the kids and all the hearts that are involved in this divorce,” a source shared. “It’s been a hard time for everyone, but Kelly’s pleased with the court’s ruling regarding custody.”
