William deVry has confirmed his exit from General Hospital! He is leaving the soap opera after portraying Julian Jerome for seven years.
On November 12, he shared a heartfelt goodbye on Twitter. “Much love to [executive producer] Frank Valentini, GH, Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis), Dominic Zamprogna (Dante), Laura Wright (Carly), [director] Phideaux Xavier, Genie Francis (Laura), Kin Shriner (Scott), Haley Pullos (Molly), Eden McCoy (Josslyn), Lexie Ainsworth (Kristina), and everyone for all the love the last seven years,” he tweeted. “Fans made Julexis and Julian. Love forever.”
Fans immediately began flooding deVry’s Twitter account with well-wishes, and he replied to the comments with heart emojis and broken broken heart emojis.
In another tweet, he thanked more of his GH costars. “My love continues for Kelly Thiebaud (Britt), Kelly Monaco (Sam), James Patrick Stuart (Valentin), Tamara Braun (ex-Kim), Josh Swickard (Chase), Donnell Turner (Curtis), Maura West (Ava), Maurice Benard (Sonny), [abc head of daytime] Bill Burton, and Steve Burton (Jason)!” he added. “Each one knows my heartfelt thanks.”
He continued to thank more of his co-stars in several more tweets. He thanked former GH head writer Ron Carlivati for bringing his character back to life, as well as his ABC execs Vicki Dummer, Nathan Varni, and Bill Burton. Other co-stars that he thanked included Ryan Carnes (Lucas), Parry Shen (Brad), Ryan Paevey (ex-Nathan), Finola Hughes (Anna), Kathleen Gati (Obrecht), Jason Culp (ex-Julian), Lisa LoCicero (Olivia), Cynthia Watros (Nina), Tristan Rogers (Robert), Ian Buchanan (ex-Duke), and Katelyn MacMullen (Willow).
Prior to this announcement, deVry had been hinting for weeks on Twitter that he was no longer working on GH. One of his tweets that suggested this read, “What should today’s song of the day be? Don’t Fear ‘The Reaper’??” Then, in a reply to another tweet from a fan, he said, “There just wasn’t enough room in the budget for the both of us,” referring to himself and Emme Rylan, who reportedly has also been let go.
The Canadian-born actor has had a couple of big soap opera roles before he was cast on GH in 2013. From 2002 to 2003, he portrayed Michael Cambias on All My Children. Then, he joined the cast of The Bold and the Beautiful where he played Stephen “Storm” Logan from 2006 to 2008.
